The brand, Texas Pete, has recently landed in hot water.
Whether you’reteam Tapatio or team Cholula , or maybe you favour Valentina over Frank ’s , almost everyone has a strong opinion ontheir red-hot sauce of selection . This , of course , can lead to het argument and , in uncommon case , legal military action . Such is the suit in California , where one resident buy a blistering sauce they were conduce to believe was manufactured in Texas .
When Los Angeles occupier Philip White bought a nursing bottle of Texas Pete at a Ralph ’s supermarket in September 2021 , he believe it was made in the Lone Star State . But White was painfully discomfited to larn that Texas Pete was actually manufactured in North Carolina , theLA Timesreports .
In short , Texas Pete is just about as Texan as put beans in your chili . And if you did n’t already know , Texans do n’t put beans in their chile .

Thecomplaintwas filed by The Clarkson Law Firm on behalf of White on September 12 in Los Angeles federal court . The plaintiffs are asking the motor hotel to forceT.W. Garner Food Co.to pay for impairment and commute its name in addition to its branding .
T.W. Garner Food Co. " has cheated its way to a market - leading position in the $ 3 billion blistering - sauce manufacture at the disbursement of law - abiding competitor and consumers across the country who want unquestionable Texas hot sauce and reasonably , but wrongly , think that is what they are fuck off when they purchase Texas Pete , " the charge reads . Very spicy indeed .
According toTexas Pete ’s site , right smart back in 1929 a marketing adviser for the company had initially paint a picture the name “ Mexican Joe ” to drink the state ’s spicy cuisine . But , laminitis Sam Garner was n’t happy with that , “ Nope ! ” Garner allegedly said at the time . “ It ’s got to have an American name ! ”
you may , of course of instruction , be both MexicanandAmerican , but I digress .
Garner founded the brand alongside his three sons , Thad , Ralph and Harold , the website notes . Legend has it that Garner glanced at his boy Harold , whose nickname was “ Pete ” and thus , the name was bear .
Attorneys for White allege that the product recording label is still shoddy despite the company being transparent about its parentage .
" There is nothing ' Texas ' about Texas Pete , ” wrote theplaintiff ’s attorneys . " On its website , Defendant pronto take on having no connection to Texas , while it is unquestionably not forthcoming about this on the products or elsewhere at the point of purchase . "
Texas Pete ’s insistency instance did not immediately respond to request for commentary .
The company has until November 10 to reply to the wooing .
