How a joke among friends birthed a bong for hikers, skiers, adventurers, and tokers.
Like many Pacific Northwest youngsters , hemp was a key to teenage rebellion for the pseudo - anonymous Dangle Supply co - founder , C. Frazer . Trips to the ironware computer storage meant hunt for tube he ’d use to connect two - litre pop nursing bottle that would become a homemade gravity bong . Frazer also was a meek green thumb , growing a few plants underneath an abandoned school in his Eugene , Oregon neighborhood with some Quaker — not to betray or to have heavy mourning band , more so to see if they could .
“ You would n’t believe the thing we built . Classic improv small-arm — of course of study , the can , the orchard apple tree . I distinctly remember roll a joint with a cattail leaf or something one time , ” he laughs . “ We ’re probably lucky it did n’t kill us . ”
His youth spent engineering ways to grow and smoke weed has now birth a brand base off of Frazer ’s cannabis creative thinking and love of the outdoors . In his 20s , Frazer visit Montana to ski and summer with friends until he resolve to eventually move to Bozeman in 2015 . He had a spear teaching in writing design at Montana State University . In his scanty time , he explore nature and , well , consumed it , too .

During these years , Frazer had mark something . “ It had become a fashionable thing to bond a mugful to the exterior of your backpack , so it was just hang there in selfies , ” says Frazer of the Instagram trend of the moment . “ We thought that was so empty-headed — the idea of this swing mark being the coolheaded thing to do — you’d have to wash away it out just to be able to use it once you do up refugee camp . Just put it inside your bag . ”
He and his buddies wanted to jab some merriment at the voguish status symbol , so they brainstorm something much funnier to swing from a knapsack : a bong . The problem : they could n’t on the nose dangle a glass bong off a zipper wrench . Or could they ?
“ At the same time , my clientele mate happened to be get wind how to weld his own bike frame . He had titanium rubbish lying around , so we were like , ‘ permit ’s just make it out of that . ’ ”
The mere , square - shot bong had a small metal bowl that was attached to a chief metallic element thermionic vacuum tube for the body of water . They handed their creation to a friend channelise on a long bike ride from Montana to Austin , Texas and demand him to carry some barb with the bong along the way .
Their bong gag did n’t finish up rifle viral , but they did get about 10 orders for metal bongs . Frazer wondered if they were onto something .
“ We decided to open a preorder to see if this matter had branch , this was in 2018 , ” he call back . “ We sold something like 100 bong in that first hour of the web site going live . All of the sudden , it click — masses who go out of doors often enjoy sens , and no one was speaking to that . This is material , and this is a Brobdingnagian market . ”

He called the companyDangle Supply , after the original inspiration . Through connection to the cycle manufacture , Frazer was able to link up with a manufacturer that could help them scale up from doing everything by handwriting themselves .
Frazer ’s early memories of the outdoors are camping trips with champion and family that that pep up extra firearm like the lightweightLettuce Wrap folding kitanda racy speckle versionof the Dangle bong .
“ The ethos of the out-of-door world is minimum and operable ; it ’s about durability and routine wear . We are also inspired by nostalgia for camping , and we endeavor to reverberate that with textures and finishes inspired by the iconic designs of that era — color like that muffle orange Robert Peel and the green enamel of the Coleman grill ; a blue maculation ingroup cup . We wanted to fetch those iconic designs from the yesteryear into our intersection , ” explains Frazer .

The products refer to a unsubdivided time or affectionate retentiveness spent in nature , but build with modern technology and sensibilities . It is n’t new to smoke out of metal , but Frazer hop that seeing it like this , in this born unpaid setting , can reframe people ’s idea of the experience .
“ For a long time , I think people have been check to believe it ’s spoiled to fume weed out of metal , ” excuse Frazer . “ While it ’s probably definitely high-risk to fume out of aluminum tonic cans with label and dyes , metal like titanium are perfect cloth to smoke out of . The melting temperature is twice that of glassful . When you get gaoler put into your organic structure , they ’re made out of titanium . It ’s super nonreactive ; it ’s one of nature ’s more incredible material . ”
And of course , the durability sexual conquest is a 100 . He hopes these pieces are used with intentions to last at least for one lifetime , if not multiple . Next up is a new , more ergonomic handheld pipework that was plan to be a more permanent aim of art to display .
Dangle Supply survived the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent e - commercialism slowdown , only to continue growing yr after class — much to Frazer ’s amusement .
“ It ’s much more real now , ” he says . “ Every once in a while , when I find myself getting stressed , I have to remind myself how this all started . ”
