Davin and Jessica Waite’s newest restaurant focuses on sustainable seafood.

As if we call for more reasons to have it away Oceanside , Brine Box , the new endeavor from Davin and Jessica Waite , has opened on the historical Oceanside Pier . The new construct is inspired by Davin ’s childhood years in England , where he regularly visited chippies , or Pisces and chip shops common in English seaboard townspeople . SoCal aboriginal and longtime employee at Wrench and Rodent and The Plot , Rachel Hurley , has been brought on as chef de culinary art , where she ’ll manage the daytime - to - day operation , as well as creating the seasonal card . Seafood is sourced from local purveyor , include fishmonger Tommy Gomes ofTunaville Market , a longtime Quaker of the Waites , andTransparentSea Farm . The menu will highlight whatever type of Pisces the Fishes is seasonally useable ; summertime variety show like halibut , Opuntia tuna , and yellowtail are currently on the bill of fare ; come up wintertime , rockfish , and lingcod are more prevalent .

Brine Box is site at the very end of the nearly 2,000 - foot - long Oceanside dock , adjacent to the now - shuttered Ruby ’s . The tiny , 109 hearty foot , kiosk - way workshop was executed by designer and general contractor Chris Slowey ofCLTVT , who also worked with the Waites on Shootz and The Plot , as well as designer and designer Andy McCabe ofTecscape . The computer menu is designed for eating while taking in the perspective from the dock and fence beach region in mind ; while there are a few benches to sit down on , the restaurant does n’t have indoor seats .
