In the early days of the trip , she meets Owen Brophy ( Hemsworth ) , a charismatic younger man who ’s accompanying his girl on the hideaway while also facing a crossroads in his own aliveness . What part off as a friendship between Loewe and Brophy before long transforms into a aliveness - transfer honey affair between the two .
In a featurette for the film premiering alone on Thrillist , Dern and Hemsworth talked about the incredible time they had in Morocco . From twit camels on the beach to drinking cocktails out of icy copper soft touch , the two reminisce about what it was like traveling with one another . Their love and respect for each other is tangible . It is the kind of bond that can only constitute when journey with another human being . “ Laura is the most kind , nurturing , welcoming , warm person that enters the room and couch everyone at informality , ” said Hemsworth of his co - star .

In a conversation with Thrillist , Dern and Hemsworth discussed their passion of travel , their peak for passing time on tenacious - catch flights , and how , after work and traveling so much together , they have germinate practically into the same person – with a few key differences .
Thrillist: What is your relationship with travel, particularly when it comes to your work? Do you love it? Do you hate it? Something in between?
Liam Hemsworth : I love it most of the sentence , but it gets to a power point where you ’ve done so much travel that you just want to be home . But we ’re so favourable to do what we do and have the opportunity to be taken to so many unlike places that a lot of the sentence you would n’t even know about or would n’t be the obvious home to go on a vacation . Travel is such a great chance to experience something different and bury yourself in a different culture . And it ’s short and acute in our job . We might be post somewhere for two weeks that we ’ve never been before . We get to live in that man for two week and experience a slight bit of what people in that area hold up like . It ’s such a prerogative .
Laura Dern : Yeah , I love to travel . We are so prosperous , as Liam said , to be immersed in new places . Not just a five - solar day vacation , but sometimes we ’re spending month in a new place , in a new culture , and coming together champion we will have forever . That ’s an unbelievable opportunity we get from working on movies . But it ’s easy to get homesick . So being with the multitude I roll in the hay is my favorite traveling destination for sure .
What’s the most unexpected place your work has taken you?
LD : I’ve been to unbelievable position . I think of when I was come out a celluloid and they said that we will be shooting in Omaha , Nebraska , and Omaha , Nebraska has become one of my favorite places . I love Omaha and I have some of my costly friends there . And it ’s barbarian that when you really genuinely are transport , then you get to bump plate in those places . So my example is not to have judgment before I ’m really soak up in a place .
When flying, do you choose the window, middle, or aisle seat?
luteinizing hormone : Window !
LD : Window ! Oh my god , we are the same soul !
Do you overpack or pack light?
LD : Overpack !
LH : Overpack ! We really are the same someone ! I overpack because I just ca n’t opt . I ’m scared of not throw that one distich of pants that I have n’t worn in 10 class , but perhaps I ’ll call for it on this trip !
LD : Yeah , exactly . I thought [ the pants ] were never really me in the first position and I probably should n’t have bought them , but this is going to be the tripper that I might need them . And I like some vitamin and some toiletries and some protein bars and workout straps …
LH : A whole bunch of fucking bands ! Bands that will never come out of the grip . I ’m going on holiday , I ’m not go to practice those band .
LD : And I care trivial target . I ’m like “ this little vitreous silica ” and then a little image that reminds me of home and my dog in a frame . Oh god , it ’s exhausting .
What’s your favorite way to pass time on a plane?
LD : eternal sleep if you could , which often does n’t happen .
LH : Definitely sleep or see pic .
LD : And my favorite matter to do that I only recently realized about me is I commit to believing Iamgoing to sleep on the airplane . Do n’t . verbalize myself into not watching the pic . And so I do my new preferred thing , which is learn the other person ’s blind without phone .
I do the same thing!
LH : Really ?
LD : I love it . I ’m like , “ oh my god . Oh my god . Oh my god , somebody ’s croak to climb up out of that thing . Oh my god . She ’s going to , oh my god , they ’re falling in love . ” I get so invested in these movies that I ’ve never look . I just look on the Bob Marley pic on the plane and bed enough about his amazing life that I kind of filled in the blanks , but I find out it without phone . It ’s an amazing movie .
LH : That is dotty .
LD : You’ve got to stress it ! It ’s so fun !
LH : I intend I ’ve done it . I ’ve wait over there for a second and I ’m like , “ What am I doing ? Let me just put on a movie . ”
LD : I was on a plane recently and a very beloved director was sitting in front of me and I did n’t have it away it was him . And I was like , what guy is watching 10 minutes ofRatatouille ? And he ’s in his XL by himself . Then he ’s watchingInside Out . It was mostly Pixar pic . And then he watch 10 minutes of a Cassavetes picture show . By the end of the fourth film that he watched for 10 minutes , I recall , okay , “ it ’s a film director and he ’s American . ” Anyway , he got up and I was right about him . I email him after the flight a listing of everything he watch . It was so creepy-crawly . But I love it . That ’s what I do .

LH : This is raving mad to me .
LD : You’ve get to try it .
ICSH : I mean , seem , I ’ve watched it for a couple of seconds , but then I just … put my own movie on . This is the one thing we ’re unlike on .

LD : No ! I ’m scared , I do n’t want to have any difference of opinion .
What’s your biggest travel fear?
LD : gravid blank sharks .
ICSH : GIANT PANDAS !
LD : I think it ! I ’m not kidding . I ’m like , “ I bed it ’s going to be incredible and I desire to browse there and I want to be intrepid . But what if ? ”
LH : My handsome change of location fear is losing my recommendation . That ’d be moderately galling . Like when we go to that seat and sit there for hour and excuse myself . Probably get put in jail for a small bit and have to explain yourself some more . “ What are you doing here sir ? Where ’s your passport ? ” “ Well , I lose it . ” “ Well , you ’re go to jail for a little bit . ” “ Well , but I do n’t merit to . I did n’t do anything wrong . ” “ You do n’t have a passport , you ’re perish to jail . ”
LD : So great white sharks and going to jail . Our biggest travel fear . Sums it up .
What’s your favorite travel snack?
ICSH : Protein bars because they ’re easygoing and I can still get my protein to[flexes his bicep]feed my body .
LD : Same , yeah , my swelled guns .
What about your go-to drink order on the plane?
LD : Well , we do n’t drink [ alcohol ] on flights . I attempt to drink in so much water on flights .
LH : I do like red wine on a flight , though . A couplet reds and then go to sleep . But unquestionably drink a lot of H2O . But then I have ta get up to go to the bathroom and that mess up up my sleeping .. Do I just not drink in anything and seek to sleep ?
LD : Then you drink more red wine-colored .
LH : Then I wassail more crimson wine . I did n’t do any of the water I aver I was start to do and I ’ve just had 19 violent wines now .
LD : Forgot the protein saloon .
LH : Forgot the protein bar . And everything ’s gone out the door . Now I ’m eating shekels . And give me some more of those sandwiches please . And a couple of biscuit and a little bit of that cheesecake . And I ’ll take a small amount of any other dessert you ’ve got and a piddling scrap more wine-colored .
LD : And also , excuse me sir . I enunciate I care the window tush but it was n’t useable . Do you mind ?
LH : Sir , can we change ? Sir ! Will you exchange derriere for me ? Have you ever done that , too ? “ Hey sir , wake up . I require your bum . ”
LD:“Sir , what ’s bechance now ? Is she cry ? Why is she crying ? ” So essentially our preferred thing to do on a flight of steps is torture the person next to us .
And all the while, you’re watching a movie on someone else’s screen. What are a few things that you cannot travel without?
LD : Every time I ’m on a flight I look at somebody with a neck pillow and I ’m like , that probably would be so good . I ’ve never tried one . Do they run ?
luteinizing hormone : Yes !
LD : My neck always hurts after a flight .
LH : You should get a neck pillow .
LD : I think I really need one . But also then you experience ta have it and deport it .
LH : It ’s a whole thing is n’t it ?
There are people who will get on a plane with absolutely nothing. Just jeans, no headphones, nothing. And they just sit and stare for the entire 12-hour flight.
LH : They call it rawdogging now . I ’ve fancy the rawdogging culture . You do n’t do anything . You do n’t drink water , you do n’t wipe out , you do n’t watch anything . You just gaze into the seat in front of you .
Is there anything else that you really need with you when you are on the go?
LD : I have in mind , now I ’ve journey with Liam Hemsworth , I imagine I just need Liam Hemsworth in my air pocket when I travel . I ’m definitely never going to Morocco without Liam Hemsworth . I know that . Or Paris .
LH : We do n’t do anything without each other anymore .
Unless going to jail or great white sharks are involved?
LD : If there ’s a shark , he ’ll punch it right on the nozzle .
LH : If I go to jail , she ’ll be properly there . I ’ll fault it on her . She stole my passport . She ’s plausibly contract it . You should lock her up as well .
