Sound is sucked out of the air except for when the miss horse ' neighs echo from the skies long after their corporal forms have disappeared . An unidentified flying object nothing in between the clouds . Convinced they ’ve encounter visitant from another planet , Emerald and OJ see a way out of their fiscal pass . If they can get the perfect shot of it , they can make money off this revulsion . project out just what the UFO is turns out to be useful , but ultimately appurtenant to the Haywood sibling ' ultimate goal . They do n’t want to identify it , they need to capture it on camera .

Like Nathanael West’sThe Day of the Locustbefore it , Nopemanages to be both a monitory tale about the Hollywood mindset — the desire to turn tragedy into pageantry and warp experience thing into dance toys for our use — and a giving summertime popcorn picture show that is authentically awe - inspiring .
