Waiting for your train just got a whole lot more artsy thanks to Amtrak’s new program.

Waiting for the wagon train in the endless blaring of loud conversations , footfall running to catch a completion threshold , and perhaps a holler tike or two is n’t exactly pleasant . Amtrak , whosetrains black market all over the nationfrom San Francisco to Boston and back , is meliorate the overall character of waiting experience with art in their stations .

A rotating stamp of artists have been participating in Art at Amtrak , a impermanent public fine art program , since June 2022 when it launch at New York City ’s Penn Station .   The new edition to the bunch is artwork find atChicago ’s Union Station . Three contemporary artist — Carolina Kent , Chad Kouri , and POSE ( Jordan Nickel)—will be on display until mid-2025 .

A mural by Kent , whose oeuvre specialize in areas such as language , displacement , and abstraction , entitledDaydreaming , is now on 40 control panel throughout the station . Layering blocks of colour pay for the viewer to interpret and spend time with what these pilfer shapes represent and communicate .

Kouri , who is known for his multidisciplinary practice play with improvisation , color , and generalization which mirror his mixed - backwash identity , has his work across the vacant retail spaces inside the station . Metallic , mirror orbs sit down atop coloured squares . His piece of work is entitledReflection Pools Monumentand strikes a balance wheel between a playful experience and sophisticated esthetic .

POSE ’s mural , Accord , draw and quarter intake from a wedding pic shoot he saw during his first visit to the station . An oversize comic strip almost break forward from the walls of the station , with grapheme connecting to passengers as they each depart on their own journey . POSE ’s work began as a graffito drill and has since acquire into vivacious illustrations and inscription that can be seen on the place ’s walls .

The Fall 2024 season of these irregular art installation can be find in several place along a train journeying .
