A rather unfortunate real-life GPS fail that probably didn’t feel funny for the people it happened to.

They say that sometimes fine art imitates life sentence . In a recent moment immortalized by a cell telephone set camera , life imitates art ( The Office ) . Onlookers observe as twotourists in Hawai’idrove their car straight into a harbor , after reportedly following GPS direction that go them astray .

On April 29 , two women were in a fomite that wentdirectly into the Honokohau Small Boat Harborin Kailua - Kona , WSAZ News reported . Fortunately , both masses in the fomite were able-bodied to expire the car unharmed , though bystander did enter the piddle to help the number one wood exit the vehicle .

" I was just sitting there prove to seek shelter from the rainfall , and then the next thing , I saw a car drive directly past our gravy holder direct into the haven at a reasonably decorous f number , " Christie Hutchinson toldtheWashington Postin an consultation . " It was so confidently done , they did n’t have a smell of panic on their look . They were still smile . "

The Dodge Caravan remained seat in the water , after attempts to keep the fomite from sinking die . Later , a towing crew remove the fomite . Hutchinson told Insiderthat the women in the fomite had posit that they were on the way to a manta shaft of light circuit before the incident .

If you ’ve ever seenThe Office , this incident may feel hauntingly intimate . On the " Dunder Mifflin Infinity " episode of the show , Steve Carrell ’s Michael drive himself and Dwight right into Lake Scranton , after misinterpreting the vehicle ’s GPS directions . It ’s still unclear why such a similar scenario occurred with the two tourist in Hawai’i , but it does go to show that life can and often does outpace the fatuity of fiction .

" There are manta companies directly on either side of the ramp and I can see how such a mistake could happen in heavy rain perhaps , " Hutchinson posited to Insider .

That certainly seems a snatch more reasonable than what charge Michael and Dwight to ( temporarily ) swim with the fishes . Samantha Tavares , from Hawaii ’s Department of Transportation , told thePostsome advice for succeeding GPS users : " If you see a body of water , do n’t force back towards it . "

I ca n’t lie , that advice is jolly funny .
