The fuzzy animals simply refused to disembark a train headed for Gatwick International Airport.

I ’ve heard of many reasonableness for trains getting canceled or retard . I ’m a frequentAmtrak passenger , after all . Somehow , electric cords are invariably falling on the tracks . But I ’ve never discover of a train being canceled because of two unruly and unrepentant squirrel . During a morning wagon train ride on September 14 , passengers heading to London - Gatwick International Airport were alarmed when two squirrels boarded the train act " panic-stricken and erratic . "

The BBC report that the squirrels hopped on the Great Western Railway between Reading and Gatwick . Once on the caravan , the squirrels were confined to the last car while passengers actuate to other cars in an effort to avoid them .

The power train did not retain after the squirrels were break from the other rider . alternatively , after only successfully shooing one of the squirrels off the train , the other one was enchant back to Reading , where it was eventually removed from the car .

" We can confirm that the 0854 Reading to Gatwick was terminated at Redhill after a duet of squirrels boarded the train at Gomshall without tickets , go against railway line ' byeclaws , ' " a punning - have it away spokesperson for the Railway told BBC . " We attempted to remove them at Redhill , but one refused to go away and was render to Reading to fetch an end to this nutty tail . "

It is magical that these squirrels were handle with such gentle glove — even though I suppose anyone on the train head to the airport was less divert by the inspection and repair interruption . At least2.5 million gray squirrels reportedly live in the UK , meaning they are n’t rarefied or endanger , and this could happen again .

It ’s both heartwarming and take aback to see a major transit system break up by two piddling gnawer who were then treated so tenderly . They were n’t chase after off the train ? Or put in batting cage ? Or vaunt unconscious ? Or shoot ? And they just got to ride around for gratis ? Even people do n’t get to do that in the US .

My biggest question now is , were the squirrels trying to catch a flight ? And if so , where to ?
