Does this new chicken sandwich deserve the same success as the original?
In 2019 whenPopeyes dropped its chicken sandwich , it shook the quick nutrient world to its core . FromCarl ’s Jr.toCulver ’s , fast intellectual nourishment chains debuted or resurrect their ownversions of a deep-fried crybaby sandwich .
Now , the question is , canPopeyesout - do its original sandwich ? This month the fast food chain came out with a new version of its iconic fry wimp sandwich , theBuffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich . The new sandwich , which made its entry on May 3 nationwide , is made with a fresh creamy herb buttermilk cattle farm and buffalo sauce on top of the chicken from the classic sandwich placed between a brioche roll . Oh , and there are pickles , too , unless you require them remove .
The original sandwich , which the stigma lead off craftingin 2016 , sport definitive Popeyes Gallus gallus between a brioche roll with chunky jam slices and creamy mayo . The famous sandwich also come in a spicy variety with a similar build but features a piquant cajun sauce on top of the wimp .

First thoughts:
Every time I unwrap a wimp sandwich of any kind , the tender package in the center of attention of my hand feel like a small life - giving centre , but I digress . For a sandwich delivered via Doordash , it attend a passel like the picture . That is to say , it was able-bodied to deal a New York City commute intact . The bright orange creamy herb buttermilk ranch and buffalo sauce did not coat the wimp , but it was clearly drizzled as a flavor roadblock between the fried wimp and the brioche tush .
I could also see a few plump pickle hanging out of the sandwich . I screw it is n’t much , but having a sandwich as aesthetically pleasing as advertised is enough to quicken any appetite . As I inspect the sandwich , wind the bun to get an eyeful of that bright buffalo dressing , the powerful buffalo sauce smell smell me in the face , making the sandwich that much more enticing .
Ok, let’s get down to business. How does it taste?
Despite the powerful olfactory property , the sauce was n’t as racy as I expected . It ’s almost as if the chain desire to forfend upstage the Popeyes ' well - cognise chicken sandwich smack .
The sandwich had some good spice to it as well . The spicery by all odds is n’t enough to send anyone running , but just enough to need a speedy sip of piddle . As for the ranch in the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich , there was none . The buffalo sauce totally eclipse any cattle ranch smell .
Final thoughts:
I thoroughly enjoyed the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich . I like that the sandwich still taste like the original with that crispy yet juicy chicken and pickles . It was n’t overpowered by or drowned in the buffalo sauce , and that ’s a good thing . I will say this , though , there was n’t a monolithic difference between the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich . If you like one , you will in spades enjoy the other . frankly , if you blindfold me and asked me to take a pungency of each sandwich , I ’m not so certain I could immediately espy the difference . They both have the same spice level , and the sauce are not too dissimilar .
